Chancellor, Auburn University at Montgomery
Stockton began serving as chancellor of AUM in July 2016. Prior to his position as chancellor, he served as provost and vice president for academic affairs at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. While at UH-Clear Lake, Stockton increased degree offerings, improved opportunities for faculty research, cultivated industry and academic partnerships, and increased online learning opportunities. He joined UH-Clear Lake after serving three years as dean and Houston Endowed Chair for Education in the University of Texas Brownsville’s School of Education. Stockton has also served as department chair of health and applied human sciences in the University of North Carolina at Wilmington's College of Art and Sciences and as department chair of exercise, sport, and health education in Radford University's College of Education and Human Development. His distinguished career features progressive levels of achievement as an educator, researcher, and author, as well as active community involvement. Professional associations include membership in the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, the American Association for Health Education, and the American Council on Education. He holds two degrees from the University of Florida and earned a Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee.
