Hill earned a bachelor’s degree from the College of Liberal Arts at Auburn University in 1963. After Auburn she became the Personnel Director at National Vulcanized Fiber in Delaware. She was the first female to serve in this capacity and was responsible for two plants and more than 8,000 employees. She moved to Product Sales Associates in New York where she retired as Vice President after 16 years of service.

The Hills purchased their first horse in 1974. In 1977, one of the Hills’ yearlings, Seattle Slew, won the prestigious Triple Crown. She and her husband have remained involved in breeding, racing, and selling thoroughbred horses.

Hill has served as a Director for the Auburn Alumni Association from 1978-1980, on the Dean’s Advisory Council in the College of Business, and now serves on the College of Human Sciences International Board of Advisors. She was a founding benefactor for the College of Human Sciences Women’s Philanthropy Board and served as its President from 2007-2009.

Hill served on the Foundation Board from 1999 – 2006 and as Board Chair 2005-2006. She was elected Director Emeritus in 2006. She was the co-chair of the “It Begins at Auburn” comprehensive campaign. She and her husband are members of the 1856 Society, Athletics All-American Society, and Foy Society. She is a lifetime member of the Alumni Association and received the Associations’ Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010.
