In the years before coming to Auburn, Jarious Avery had vague dreams of attending college and pursuing a career in medicine. As a first-generation college student, he was alone in the complicated process, navigating every decision by himself — from which school to attend to admission requirements and financial aid possibilities.

Kendall Higdon and Caitlyn Miller have flown the friendly skies around Auburn for years. What they hadn’t done, until last summer, was compete as a team in a four-day, 2,400-mile air race. Their race was made possible, in part, by generous donors who participated in Tiger Giving Day.

Generations of student veterans have walked Auburn’s campus, replacing their military rucksacks with backpacks. Hanna Fowler, a 2017 aviation management graduate and chief pilot for Flex Air, never considered a career in aviation as a young girl, even though both of her parents are pilots. She unexpectedly decided on the career, not unlike the way she decided to attend Auburn University.

Located on 13.5 acres on main campus, Auburn University’s botanical gardens, the Donald E. Davis Arboretum, feature a collection of the native plants of Alabama and the southeastern United States.

The Gaines Blackwell Endowment for Interior Architecture in the College of Architecture, Design and Construction at Auburn University honors the beloved professor who taught, mentored, inspired, and loved his students through their years at Auburn and beyond.
